How do I know if Spectrum has an outage in my area? ›

If your Spectrum Internet, cable TV or Home Phone service is not working, find out if a service outage has occurred in your area by visiting the Outage Information and Troubleshooting page.

If you have no internet connection, follow the steps below: Make sure your router and Spectrum's equipment have power. Make sure your router does not have any loose or damaged connections to the Spectrum equipment. Attempt to ping your Spectrum provided gateway IP Address from your router.

Open the My Spectrum App, and sign in with your username and password. Select Services. Your equipment will be listed there with either a status of “Connected,” “Unavailable” or “Connection Issue.” If you see a “Connection Issue” status next to your equipment, tap it.

Unplug all cables from the router (and modem, if you have separate devices), and leave them unplugged for about a minute. Plug everything back in and wait 5 minutes for everything to boot back up. This often clears up connection issues with Spectrum, including a red light on the router. Check if the modem is online.

There could be a number of factors that affect your internet connection. First, and most likely, is problems with your equipment. Restarting your modem/router will often resolve the issue. Other reasons why your internet may keep going out include inadequate speeds, network congestion and inclement weather.

General Troubleshooting

Try turning WiFi OFF, and then back ON. This will help resolve most WiFi issues. Ensure WiFi is enabled and that you have a strong WiFi signal. Make sure you're in range of the WiFi network to which you're trying to connect.

Use the Reset button, on the back of the Telephony Gateway, to reset the modem and perform initialization as if you power cycled the unit. You may need to reset the Telephony Gateway if you are having problems connecting to the Internet.

If the light is blinking green, data is being transmitted or received at 100 Mbps. If the light is on and yellow, the port has detected link with a 10 Mbps device. If the light is blinking yellow, data is being transmitted or received at 10 Mbps. If the light is off, no link is detected on that port.
